It is always good to get away from the
mundane pace of life by going on holiday.
To my shame of all the years I have lived in England I have only seen
some small parts of it.
So it was with some pleasure to read thatthere are tour packages UK available
that will take you to interesting sites all over England and Scotland. These trips are all undertaken by coach. There are no planes and trains to catch as
your transport will travel with you for the whole duration of the holiday.
From London you will first travel to
Cambridge which is a lovely old city, especially towards Christmas time. You will be able to hear the boys’ choir
practising in King’s College. On fine
days the tour starts there with a punt on the river.
You will also visit Hadrian’s Wall which
many people thought was the dividing line between Scotland and England and to
keep marauding bands at bay. This has
proved to be a wrong assumption and it is much more likely that it was a Roman
status symbol.
Much of the wall has survived to this day
and it is possible to travel along a great length of it on the footpath that
runs beside it.
Nearby is the historic town Jedburgh where
St Bede brought Christianity to the British Isles from Ireland. On the same day you will hit Edinburgh with
its many tourist attraction. This is
also where you will spend the night so you can go for a leisurely pint in the
evening.
You will travel all the way up north as far
as Inverness before travelling down again to Liverpool, Stratford on Avon and
Cardiff. It seems an awful lot of
travelling, but within the confines of your touring coach you can strike up friendships
with your fellow travellers.
All tours are accompanied with a guide who
will fill you in with interesting facts about the many places you visit.
Before you go all the way to Stonehenge you
will find yourself in Bath. This city is
the home of the Roman baths which still shows much Roman architecture.
