HOW TO TRAVEL SAFELY

If you don’t mind going to a troubledcountry then tour packages to Egypt are currently reasonably priced.  This country also has an abundance of antiquities to admire, the likes of which are not found anywhere else.

It is very advisable to attach yourself to an organised tour, rather than going it alone.  Tour companies take your safety very seriously and safety in numbers is preferable in a country such as this.

If you have a look at some of the websites of tour organisers you will find that there is much information on safety when undertaking a trip to Egypt.  As our Government has not posted any warnings, it seems that if you keep to the advice that such companies give their travellers, you should not come to any harm.

There are several tours available.  There are sight-seeing, scuba diving and beach holidays available.  If you opt for the sight-seeing variety, you will notice that several places are included and that you will do much travelling by coach, train and Nile cruiser.

If you are not partial to scuba diving or lying on the beach all day, your best option is to choose one of the several group holidays that are available.  Depending on your work schedule you can go for fifteen days down to nine if time is pressing.

All of these involve travelling to Cairo for your first stop to make a sight-seeing trip to the pyramids.  If you are brave enough you may want to try a camel ride, but this is optional.

The next day your will be travelling to Aswan where in the 1970s a dam was built to ensure the availability of water to the fertile Nile Delta at all times.  As a result of building this dam, some of the ancient temples had to be moved to higher ground to preserve them for posterity.

This is where you will board the Nile cruiser that will take you down the river, ultimately arriving in Luxor.  There is much to see there ever since Egyptologists started excavating.
